🧠Sending MRI Scans

Download Scan from COINS

  1. Login to COINS with your account (see account login here)

  2. Click on Go to COINS

  3. Click on Account Details

  4. Click on Imaging -> List Scans

  5. Click on Apply

  6. Find the Participant's scan based on the scan date and time (or use their URSI number)

  7. Click on the Folder icon in the Details column

  8. Select the scan labeled as t1_mprage_sag3d_iso08mm_208 (it should be the second one in the list)

  9. Click on Download Images

  10. You will get a screen saying "Scan Files Not Available: The files for this scan session are being prepared for download. You will receive an email when they are available."

  11. In a couple of hours (2-3hrs) the person whose COINS account is logged in, will get an email that the scan is ready to download. If it is not your account, just check back in 2-3 hrs so you can repeat steps 1-9, then skip to step 12-15.

  12. Click on Download Images

  13. Wait a moment / allow your browser to download the folder

Upload the Scan to SharePoint

  1. In the downloaded folder, unzip the folder.

  2. Rename the unzipped folder as MRI Images

  3. On SharePoint, create a new folder here and name it MRI Scan_SUBJECTID (e.g., MRI Scan_18061). Get the Subject ID from the database here

  4. Copy README.html into the folder you just created by selecting the ... then Copy To

  5. Upload the MRI Images from your computer to MRI SCAN_SUBJECTID on SharePoint

Send the Scan to the Participant

  1. Go to the Lab Email

  2. Compose a new email with:

    • To: Subject's email address (find it on the database here)

    • Subject: View your MRI Brain Scan

    • Body:

      Hi,

      Thank you for participating in our research study! You can view your MRI Brain Scan images by downloading the folder at the following link and following the README instructions.

  3. Get the Link for the participant to download their MRI Scan_SUBJECTID folder

    1. Click on the ... for their folder

    2. Click on Copy Link

    3. Edit the link permissions by clicking on where it says People in Georgia Institute of Technology with the link can edit

    4. Select Anyone

    5. Under More Settings, change to Can View

    6. Click on Copy

    7. Paste the link into the body of the email

    8. Send email
