❗Troubleshooting

  1. If anything unusual happens or a task crashes, write the task name in the problematic task column in the log book and explain what happened in the column next to it.

    • Don't be afraid to ask a supervisor for help troubleshooting if you don't know what to do!

  2. If you ever need to quit out of a task, use control+alt+shift, and select abort when prompted.

    • If this does not work, use control+alt+delete, then pull up task manager and stop the task from there.

    • If the task is run through MatLab hit alt+tab, then type asc. This may take a few tries.

  3. If a task will not close at the end screen when you press Q, try pressing caps lock, then Q.

    • If this does not work, use control+alt+shift

  4. If a task crashes right at the beginning, try reopening the task and seeing if it will run again.

    • If the participant has already been doing the task for a while or it crashes again, move them on to the next task.

  5. If you enter in the wrong participant ID, make a note of it in the RA log book and also let your supervisor know when the participant is finished. They will be able to change it in the data file.

  6. Sometimes participants will get frustrated with a task and ask to skip it/say they cannot finish it, or disrupt others around them. Remind them that the tasks are supposed to be hard (so they don't get frustrated/self-conscious) but allow them to skip the task if they need to.
