🖥️Session 2

Remember to schedule Session 3 in Bookings with the participant after completing Session 2.

I. Greet the Participant

  1. Ask the participant for their photo ID to confirm the correct person is here for their session.

  2. Confirm we have the all the participant's information in the MURI Subject Database.

    • Note if the session is for credit or pay for participants who registed through SONA.

  3. Ask the participant if they need their parking validated:

    • Write in the participant's name and voucher number from the top of the ticket.

    • Write in the name of whoever is supervising the shift under "Lab Representative".

    • Add a parking sticker to the ticket and give it back to the participant.

II. Run Session 2

  1. The participant can bring their belongings with them to the running room or leave them in the control room.

  2. Reiterate their informed consent as you walk them to the running room.

    • Remind them they can leave at any point if they do not wish to continue participating.

    • Give them an overview of what they will be doing: a series of computer tasks that measure things like attention and working memory.

    • Remind them to not use and silence their phone during the session.

  3. Highlight Session 2 in green in the MURI Subject Database once the session is complete.

    • Green = session complete

III. Measure Head Circumference

After the participant completes their computer tasks, have them remain seated to measure their head circumferece. We need this measurement before Session 3 so we can prep the correct EEG net in advance.

  1. Using a flexible measuring band, measure the circumference of the participant’s skull IN CENTIMETERS.

    • Acquire verbal consent to touch their head, i.e. “Is it cool if I touch your head?”

    • Start at the nasion (point between eyebrows directly above nose bridge) and wrap the measuring band once around the skull. Make sure that the band covers the inion in the back.

  2. Add the measurement to the MURI Subject Database.

IV. Schedule Session 3

  1. Inform the participant that for Session 3 they will be wearing an EEG cap.

    • Ask them to come to their session with their hair washed and dried and loose/down if possible.

    • Ask them not to apply any chemical hair products after washing.

  2. Choose an available time on the calendar with the participant.

  3. Ask the participant to describe their hair volume, type and style in a few words. Directly quote their description.

    • For participants with long hair, ask to put their hair in a pony tail and measure the circumference (cm). Use the measuring tape.

  4. Add the participant's head circumference in cm.

  5. Finish by selecting "Book".

  6. Add the participant's hair volume, type, and style for Session 3 and their session date to the MURI Subject Database.

    • Remind the participant to come in with washed, dry hair and no leave-in products.

    • The participant will automatically receive a confirmation email when we book their session and reminder emails before their session.

    • The participant will NOT be able to reschedule Session 3 on their own. They will need to contact us to do so.

  7. Update MURI Subject Database every time Session 3 is rescheduled/canceled.

    • Check the lab email for an “Updated/Cancelled Booking” message every time a participant changes their session.
