đŸĢ§Chapter 5: EEG Clean-Up

Remember to clean/disinfect any measuring spoons and pipets that were used for EEG.

Part I. Prepare the Disinfectant Solution

  1. Prepare fresh disinfectant solution for the EEG caps every 2 weeks.

  2. In the disinfectant bucket, use the provided measuring spoon to mix 1/2 ounce of disinfectant with 2 liters of water.

  3. Label the bucket lid with the date two weeks from now.

Part II. Rinse Electrolyte Solution from the Net

  1. Put the connector end of the EEG in the cabinet above the sink in the control room and gently close it. This will help keep it from getting wet.

  2. Carefully turn the net inside out.

  3. In the sink, fill the rinse bucket with clean warm (not hot) water.

  4. Immerse the sensor end of the net in the water.

  5. Gently swish the net back and forth for 10-20 seconds.

  6. Remove the net from the water and drain the rinse bucket.

  7. Repeat steps 2-5 for the net to rinse the net 4 times in total.

III. Disinfect the Net

  1. In the disinfectant bucket, immerse the sensor end of the net in the disinfectant.

  2. Clean any measuring spoons or pipets that were used in the disindetant bucket.

  3. Set a timer for 10 minutes and allow the net to soak. Do not let the net soak for longer than 10 minutes.

IV. Rinse the Disinfectant Solution from the Net

  1. Fill the rinse bucket with clean warm (not hot) water.

  2. Immerse the sensor end of the net in the water.

  3. Gently swish the net back and forth for 10-20 seconds.

  4. Remove the net from the water and drain the rinse bucket.

  5. Repeat steps 2-5 for the net to rinse the net 4 times in total.

  6. Gently pay the excess water from the net with a clean towel.

  7. Hang the net with its connector above it to dry.
